Mandatory Weapons Inventory for 1208 and 1033 program participants

Begining on July 14th, 2006, "Letters of Memorandum" were sent out to agencies who have received weapons through either the 1208 or 1033 federal surplus programs to verify receipt of weapons and verify the serial numbers. Agencies need to compare the list of weapons with the actual weapons on hand and double check to make sure the serial numbers are correct. Any corrections need to be noted on the Memorandum. This Memorandum needs to be signed by the Chief, Sheriff, or other accouintable officer. This information will also help make the Law Enforcement Database Systems (LEEDS) more accurate when it comes on line in the near future.
