Officer Survival

But I didn't have my gun...

The unwritten code is you always have your weapon on you, unless your department says otherwise. The harsh reality is there are ocassions where you are not going to have a gun. The question is are you unarmed or do you just not have your gun.

And now... Of Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs

One size DOES NOT fit all

You have just been hired by a law enforcement or security agency. One of the very first things they do is issue your uniforms and your duty weapon. They want your uniforms to fit so you project a professional appearance for the public. Then they give you the same duty weapon every one else carrys. Sometimes it seems like they care more about how you look than how safely and effectively you can do your job. What's up with that? And the arguments are, well, everyone needs to carry a standardized weapon. (Translation: the more you buy the better the price.)Sometimes there is the "We need all the knockdown power we can get". The "well, if you can't shoot the thing, you shouldn't work here and my personal favorite, "Well, we might get in a shootout and need to share ammo."

"One Pot" Meth Cooking in Arkansas

|

The so called one pot method of cooking met amphetamine using an ammonia recipe is starting to appear in Arkansas. The cook is rare enough that not many officers have actually had the opportunity to see one. The cook combines all the steps but the “salting out in to one continuous process in one container, hence the name.

You will see the same ingredients as those at a regular cook but there will be a noticeable absence of tubing, pyrex and miscellaneous glassware.

After the mixture quits bubbling (reacting) the top layer of either which contains the methamphetamine is drawn off in to a second container. A HCL generator is then used to bubble the mixture and separate the meth from the ether.
